Hey guys, I need some suggestions. I#m writing a story where my characters eventually receive some animal inspired armor. They all have unique elements, classes, weapons and armor to make them all unique. Thing is, how do I incorporate animal themes in their armor?

For example. Midori wields a sword, and her armor piece is a helmet. Her guardian animal is a bear.

Midori's brother, Ryo, is a rogue who wields a bow, and his armor is vambraces, and his guardian animal is a wolf. How do I illustrate these pieces to make them look cool and not campy? One character is governed under the octopus and has octopus tentacle shoulder plates. He wields and axe and controls water. Does that sound alright? I mean I think tentacle shoulder plates are BAMF, personally.
